We first start with India, where we get to explore eclectic temples and imposing forts. Pristine wildlife refuges and lively metropolises. Pink cities and golden triangles. Fairytale monuments and tantalizing cuisine. This is India, a land of color and contrast— #DoYouEvenTravel? There’s no better introduction to India’s famed “Golden Triangle” than this incredible 8-day adventure. Your adventure includes hotel accommodations, private guided sightseeing in each city, breakfast daily, four lunches, and private transportation throughout. Plus, in each city, a Local Host is at your service—a friendly face and expert on the local scene who is there for you to answer questions, and provide recommendations.

After exploring the beautiful country of India, we will fly out of Delhi and head over to Negombo where we will discover Sri Lanka’s incredible cultural and natural highlights on this eight-day tour. Explore a spice plantation, look for elephants on safari in Udawalawe National Park, and visit a stunning tea plantation. Wrapping up in Unawatuna, this tour is designed to allow you to add on some amazing beach time at the end.

Day 1 – September 23 2018 – ARRIVE IN DELHI, INDIA

Welcome to India, today begins your epic adventure as we explore the Golden Triangle! Your hotel room awaits at with check in available mid-afternoon. Don’t worry, if you arrive earlier, you can drop off your bag and explore this beautiful city!

Notes: Travelers arriving today on our scheduled flights will receive complimentary transfers from the Delhi International Airport to our hotel. Arrival time to be determined.

Day 2 – September 24 2018 – DELHI

Today we start with a private driving tour where we see the Red Fort, Jama Masjid, India Gate, and the Presidential Palace. Relax over a hearty breakfast, then enjoy a rickshaw ride through the famed Chandni Chowk bazaar—a market that’s been around for more than three centuries. Spend time here shopping for exotic spices, gold, fabrics, and a host of trinkets and souvenirs. Feeling hungry? Today we treat you to a scrumptious lunch of traditional Indian fare, so dive right in! Afterwards you will have free time to explore Delhi with our Trip Manager or on your own!

Day 3 – September 25 2018 – DELHI–AGRA

Today, we explore Delhi on a private tour with our Local Guide where we get to stop at Qutub Minar and Ghandi Smirti; visits Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, the largest Sikh house of worship in Delhi; and explores the lavish, 16th-century garden-tomb of Mughal Emperor Humayun (a precursor to the Taj Mahal). Later we will depart for Agra and check into our next hotel.

Day 4 – September 26 2018 – AGRA

Today, be sure your camera’s fully charged for our private guided sightseeing tour. Travel via tonga (horse-drawn carriage) for a truly unforgettable sunrise visit to the incomparable Taj Mahal. We’ll also visit the ancient red sandstone Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site which guarded the imperial city of the Moghul rulers. Explore more on your own later or you could join the optional excursion to Itmad-ud-Daula, the city’s beautiful “Baby Taj.”

NOTE:
The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays. In these instances, it will be visited in the morning on Day 5.

Day 5 – September 27 2018 – AGRA–FATEHPUR SIKRI–JAIPUR

Today, we head southwest, stopping to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Fatehpur Sikri (the City of Victory), home to one of the largest mosques in India. Then, explore the splendid Keoladeo Ghana Bird Sanctuary, one of the finest bird parks in the world, where cormorants, storks, eagles, and more than 370 other migratory bird species have been recorded. During the nesting season, bird calls can become so loud that it drowns out human conversation! Also keep your eyes open for wild boars, mongoose, jackals, hyenas, civets, and porcupines, too! After our private tour we will continue on to Jaipur, known as the “Pink City.”

Day 6 – September 28 2018 – JAIPUR

In the “Pink City” of Jaipur, our private sightseeing takes us to the amazing Amber Fort with the glittering walls and ceilings in the Sheesh Mahal (Mirror Palace), the City Palace, and the stunning Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds). Join a walking tour through the local market to pick up mementos, and check out the fascinating bigger-than-life Jantar Mantar astronomical observatories. The rest of the evening is at your leisure

Day 7 – September 29 2018 – JAIPUR–DELHI

Today, drive back to Delhi. The remainder of the day is at your leisure.

Day 8 – September 30 2018 – DELHI-NEGOMBO

Our India tour ends today, we will board our included transfers and take a short flight to Negombo Sri Lanka and check into our hotel. The day is at our leisure and we will use it to relax and explore a little before our group tour begins. We will meet back at our hotel in the early evening to meet the rest of our group members who will be joining us as well as our local guide who will be taking us throughout the rest of Sri Lanka!

Day 9 – October 1 2018 – Negombo-Kandy
Drive to Kandy, visiting a spice plantation en route. Enjoy lunch at three Craft Shop and Café. Later, explore Temple of the Tooth.

Day 10 – October 2 2018 – Kandy

Day 11 – October 3 2018 – Kandy-Ella
Depart Kandy by private vehicle and arrive in the historic town of Nuwara Eliya. Stop for a scenic lakeside picnic lunch before resuming the journey to Ella. Upon arrival, learn about one of the nation’s most popular exports with a guided tour followed by a tea tasting at the AMBA estate. Tonight, we stay overnight at this gorgeous estate.

Day 12 – October 4 2018 – Ella
In the morning, begin a trek through tea plantations, lush forest, and scenic ridges to Ella Rock. Soak in the stunning scenery and views over a picnic lunch. After lunch, trek downhill to Ella town. Enjoy a free afternoon exploring the town before taking Tuk Tuk’s back to Amba Estate. In the evening, enjoy a cooking demonstration of classic homestyle Sri Lankan dishes, a delicious mixture of savoury and sweet.

Day 13 – October 5 2018 – Ella-Unawatuna
Depart Amba Estate in the morning after enjoying a delicious home cooked breakfast. Begin the journey to Udawalawe National Park and visit the Elephant Transit home before enjoying an afternoon wildife safari through Udawalawe National Park. Afterwards, head to a tented camp by the lake on the boundary of National Park and relax with a BBQ dinner around the campfire.

Day 14 – October 6 2018 – Unawatuna
After breakfast transfer from Udawalawe to Galle for a tour of the fort and city. Later, head to Unawatuna for some beach time and a final night with the group.

Day 15 – October 7 2018 – Unawatuna
Depart at any time.  Transfers from our hotel to airport are included for travelers departing on our scheduled transfer departure time. Otherwise please make your way to the airport on your own and we hope to see you again!

IMPORTANT NOTES: Please be advised that due to the logistics of Sri Lanka, our group will be joining with other group members who may not be with Chubit Travel. With the combined guests, our group will be exploring Sri Lanka with a local guide the entire way. The maximum group size for the entire group is 15.
