Chubit Travel is constantly monitoring the COVID19 pandemic and its potential impact on travel. While we continue to provide periodic updates regarding travel safety, travelers should consult the World Health Organization (WHO) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) websites for the most up-to-date information on the COVID19 pandemic. If you may be considering canceling your trip due to COVID19, please note that fear of travel is not a covered event under any travel insurance policy unless Cancel for Any Reason is included (available for limited markets and packages). Depending on the airline you are booked with, we are constantly monitoring the COVID19 Travel Alert/Updates from the airlines. Each airline has your safety and the safety of the crew in mind. Because of this airlines are adjusting flight schedules and waiving change fees where applicable. Chubit Travel is only able to relay this information to you as it becomes available and assist you with changing your flights if you wish to delay your travel.
Please note that the change waivers being offered for COVID19 is not a refund option, but an option to change your flight. if you wish to change your flight to a future travel date. We have compiled a list of the airline carrier links to their live travel updates so you can review them as necessary. If you want to make a change, please contact your Chubit Travel Consultant and they will be able to assist you with changing your flight under the waiver.

My flight was cancelled by the Airline, what are my options?
Depending on the airline, you may have options of a full refund or a voucher based on the airline's policy. Chubit Travel will always work to get you the best options possible, however as we do not hold any funds from your bookings, any refunds or vouchers is at the discretion of the airline.

Depending on the hotel, you may have options for a full refund or an option to reschedule your dates based on the hotel's policy. I have upcoming travel and purchased travel insurance. Will I be able to cancel my trip and be reimbursed?
It depends on the reason for cancellation. If you need to cancel your travel plans, please consult the “Unforeseen Covered Reasons” portion of your insurance policy to see a list of reasons for Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption that may be covered, along with General Exclusions of coverage. If you require a full description of coverage listing the covered reasons, please contact your Chubit Travel Consultant.
You are encouraged to file a claim if one of the covered reasons could possibly apply to your situation as you may be eligible to be reimbursed for your unused, non-refundable, pre-paid trip costs if you need to cancel your trip. Because Chubit Travel partners with multiple Travel Insurance Providers, please contact your Chubit Travel Consultant for guidance on filing the insurance claim with the correct insurance provider.
Currently no travel insurance covers PANDEMICS and since the WHO has deemed COVID19 as a Pandemic, existing and future insurance plans will not cover you for any COVID19 related claims. The only exception is if you purchased Cancel for Any Reason, see next question for more details
Am I covered if I have Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) coverage?
If your plan includes Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) coverage, you could be covered for the percentage of the loss as stated in the insurance policy, depending on the level of CFAR coverage purchased, and provided the trip is canceled more than 48 hours prior to the scheduled departure date. Refer to your insurance policy (or Description of Coverage) for details. Because Chubit Travel has multiple Travel Insurance Providers, please contact your Chubit Travel Consultant for guidance on filing the insurance claim with the correct insurance provider.
Can I purchase a policy with CFAR coverage?
CFAR coverage is only available at the time a plan is purchased and must be within 72 hours of your initial trip deposit. As a result, if you have an existing insurance policy, you are not eligible to add on CFAR coverage. Be advised that Cancel for Any Reason is not available to all markets and products and may have limitations. Please reach out to your Chubit Travel Consultant for more details.
Am I covered if I contract COVID19 on my trip?
If you contract COVID19 prior to your departure, you would be covered for Trip Cancellation if there is a confirmed diagnosis, including proof of illness from your doctor that states you are medically unable to travel at the time of departure. If you become ill with COVID19 while on a covered trip, you would be covered for Medical Expense and Trip Interruption/Curtailment benefits if there is a confirmed diagnosis, including proof of illness from a doctor. These coverages are subject to the terms and conditions of your insurance policy. Because Chubit Travel has multiple Travel Insurance Providers, please contact your Chubit Travel Consultant to obtain a full description of coverage.
There is currently a travel ban for the destination I am booked to visit, will I receive a refund?
Travel bans are currently being enacted around the world and are constantly changing. When you booked a trip with Chubit Travel, your payments were sent directly to the airline, cruise line, tour operator, hotel, or insurance company you were confirmed on. For this reason, all refunds or travel credits are subject to approval from the travel supplier you are booked with. For general information, you may reference the sections above or you may reach out to your Chubit Travel Travel Consultant for more information. Our travel consultant's will do our best to decipher the rules and advise you on the best options.
I have just booked a trip and I am afraid that it will be affected by COVID19 in the near future. Will I be able to cancel my trip and be reimbursed if COVID19 continues to be a problem?
It depends on the reason for cancellation and if you opted to purchase travel insurance. If you have purchased travel insurance, please refer to the Travel Insurance section above. If you did not purchase travel insurance, you may reach out to your Chubit Travel Travel Consultant to see your options. More details on specific travel types may be found in the sections above. Please be advised that as COVID19 is now a known pandemic, it is no longer considered unforeseeable. Due to this reason, all new travel insurance policies purchased after the WHO deemed COVID19 as a pandemic will not cover any claims related to COVID19 with the exception of Cancel for Any Reason (see Travel Insurance section for more details)
I have upcoming travel and no longer wish to go due to fear of contracting COVID19. What are my options?
If you need to cancel your travel plans, please reach out to your Chubit Travel Travel Consultant. They will be able to see what options you have. When you booked a trip with Chubit Travel, your payments were sent directly to the airline, cruise line, tour operator, hotel, or insurance company you were confirmed on. For this reason, all refunds or travel credits are subject to approval from the travel supplier you are booked with. Our travel consultants will do our best to decipher the rules and advise you on the best options.
Where is my refund? I was offered a full refund for my booking and it has been a long time.
Chubit Travel is not the travel service provider and we are only a facilitator or intermediary for assisting you with the booking and management process. All refunds must come from the travel service provider and will be credited to your account in the order they received the cancellation request. Most refunds are received within 4-6 weeks, however some suppliers who are heavily affected by COVID19 are asking for 10-12 weeks for the refund as each refund has to be manually processed. We understand that the travel supplier was quick to charge the amount from your credit card at booking and the refund is taking longer than expected, however as this is the first time something like this happened, no travel supplier was prepared for this. If you would like to obtain a status update on your refund, please reach out to your Chubit Travel Travel Consultant directly and they will be able to give you a more up to date status.
I do not agree with the options provided by the airline, cruise line, hotel, tour operator, or insurance company. I will be filing a chargeback with my credit card.
We understand your frustration and at Chubit Travel we fully understand that with what is going on a refund is the only acceptable option. However, as Chubit Travel is not the actual service provider of the travel service and we are only a facilitator or intermediary for assisting you with the booking and management process, we do not have the option to refund you on goodwill. All refunds must come from the travel service provider and will be based on their policies. If you determine that filing a chargeback is necessary, do understand that we are required to follow the processes and procedures as per VISA, MasterCard, American Express and DiscoverCard once a claim is received. All chargebacks will go directly to Chubit Travel and your Travel Consultant will be personally liable. If a chargeback case is approved by your credit card company, your travel consultant will be paying for that loss out of pocket, and as per our Chubit Travel policies in our invoices, legal action may be taken to recover the lost funds. Chubit Travel and its Travel Consultants are here to assist you and work with you to the best of our ability. We ask that you speak with us before filing any chargebacks.
